MXit Music has a three tiered ranking system in the Charts – Demo’s, Playlisted and Chart Toppers. There’s also a music archive, the Warehouse.
This is where the artists showcase their music. Here, you the listener can Preview or Download a track. And, once you’ve listened to the tune, you decide its fate. So, if you love it, ‘Like’ it. Once a track has 500 ‘Likes’, it gets bumped up to the Playlisted section.
Downloading a track in Demo’s not only scores you the cheapest download but it also generates some much needed cash for the artists. You’ll also get hooked up to the Demo Chart, artists’ blog pages, gig guides and much more, all through MXit Music on your mobile.
When an artist gets their track onto the playlist, you know their mojo’s working. But this is where the real test begins. If a tune is downloaded 100 times within three months, it’s hot and happening and the track gets moved into Chart Toppers. With less than 100 downloads in three months, the track is archived in Warehouse.
So it was close, but no cigar. Tracks in the Warehouse can still make it back on to the Chart. With your support (and enough downloads) it could be charting again.
Now you’re talking! This stuff is solid gold and destined to be a smash. Well done to the artists…(and the fans.)
