Why vote?
All voting takes place on MXit mobile, and it's free. So, if you
haven't registered on MXit - this will be your first step. Open
your mobile browser and type in www.mxit.com/wap and follow
the prompts. Otherwise find MXit Music in Tradepost, and download
the contact. Casting of votes is free and only happens on mobile.
Voting drives the charts - and they are automated by the number of
votes received at any given time. Based on popularity, the tracks
compete to gain ranking in the live MXit Music charts. A track
enters MXit Music via Audition, and it requires 500 votes or more
to move into The Top 40 Playlist chart - where tracks are now
available for download, and bands can start earning revenue.
Remember voting is only cast on mobile.
How does voting work?
To cast your vote, go to Tradepost (on mobile) / MXit Music and
click through to 'Votes' - and get voting for your all-time
favourite artists - they need your support.
How often can I vote?
When logged in, you are allowed to vote once for as many bands as
you like in a 30 minute session.
Who votes for the tracks/previews?
Any registered MXit user who has added the MXit Music contact.
Is voting also free?
Yes, voting is free. When logged in, you are allowed to vote once
for as many bands as you like in one session - so spread the love.
The first thing you need to do is start loading up your
stuff, your blog, your band picture, your gig info, and most
importantly, your track preview(s) and full track(s).MXit Music
operates on web and mobile. The only difference is that voting and
full track downloads can only happen on mobile, so make sure all
have added the MXit Music contact from Tradepost.
Once the tracks are loaded, your track preview will become
available in the Audition Chart. MXit users can stream it from the
website, or download it via mobile, where they vote for the track.
All voting happens on mobile only and is free. Users can vote for a
track once every 30 minutes.
Every day, at midnight, the votes are totalled for the
previous 7 days. You need at least 500 votes or more to qualify for
Playlist, so you need to have more votes than other track in
Playlist.
The Playlist is the Top 40 chart and get the most
exposure. Here, your full track will automatically be available for
users to download (remember, they can only do this from mobile).
Don't forget, your position on the Playlist is still decided by the
votes, and upcoming tracks from Auditions can still push you out,
so you need to get those fans voting.
The best part of the Playlist is that you can start
earning some money. When users download your full tracks, they pay
250 Moola (R2.50. There are service provider costs that need to be
covered so your 60% share means R0.75 in your pocket. Don't forget
to pay your publishing fee to the composer of your music (if this
wasn't you). To avoid us paying out small amounts when downloads
are a bit slow, we'll deposit your money when it reaches R50. If
you don't get to R50 within 3 calendar months, we'll pay you
anyway.
Now the good news is that if your track falls off the
Playlist, it will automatically move to Library where MXit users
can still download it. Your position on the Library chart is
decided by the number of downloads calculated at midnight for the
past 7 days.
